Analysis and Evaluation of Muḥammad al-Ghazālī al-Miṣrī’s Views on Hadith

Abstract
In the contemporary era, coinciding with the movement advocating a return to the Quran, various intellectual currents and groups have engaged with hadith in different ways. Some, while generally accepting hadiths and traditions, have introduced critiques that go beyond the established criticisms of Muslim scholars. This trend, marked by diverse perspectives and partisan readings, has been actively involved in the critique and reinterpretation of the Sunni tradition and hadith. Muḥammad al-Ghazālī is among the most prominent figures in this movement, offering critical evaluations of Sunni hadith. This article adopts a critical approach to analyze al-Ghazālī’s views on hadith, explaining his principles and perspectives before evaluating them.
